Jeremy Scott x adidas O by O 2010

The psychedelic craziness isn’t restricted to footwear for Mr. Jeremy Scott. The celebrated happy nutty British collaborator for adidas Originals by Originals line takes his boundless imagination and to the top (and by top, we really mean apparel). This time around, instead of simply swirling colors from all spectrum and employing exaggerated shapes, the collection seems to have undergone a strange time warp, reviving inspiration and familiar looks from different eras and styles, but nonetheless staying with the program of opulent glamor rock. Think this year’s hit menswear vest with an extended tuxedo tail, paired with embroidered tassels a la Michael Jackson; putting the boho luxe tough on the classic track jacket with dramatically decorated embroidered shoulder panels; fringe layered hoodies a la the 20s flappers; stars, studs and lace on iconic sportswear items such as track suits and hockey jerseys; a surf suit inspired dress embellished with lingerie details slight reminiscent of Madonna’s famed cone bra and recent runway favorite of lingerie dressing; and track pants featuring adidas logo done up in drippy B-movie typeface. The collection is a eclectic one which magically enveloped multiple major trends of the century into a single line-up. Of course, putting the Jeremy Scott sense of humor back, there is also a singlet featuring Mr. Scott balling in leopard print tight pants. In usual Scott fashion, nothing is subtle– why should anything be?– every item makes a loud statement…albeit the meaning of that statement isn’t always clear through bedazzling exterior. Whatever it is, it’s a party-ready collection for the courageous fashion-minded beings constantly seeking to experiment and wow.
